Current Exhibition > Stomping Grounds: Senior Seminar Highlights Show

The Fordham University Visual Arts Program is pleased to announce a new exhibition in the Visual Arts Complex Susan Lipani Gallery: Stomping Grounds

The exhibition brings together the fourteen artists who participated in the Senior Seminar: Studio Art: Caroline Abella, Brigitte Gendron, Grace Guerra, Reed Gulden, Daniella Herrera, Paulina Marceleño, Lillian Maunsbach, Nicole Miceli, Sophia Gayoso-Nordling, Rosa Nunez, Lily Sood, Liberty Stam, Nicholas Verone, and Dylan Wright. The work on display represents a snapshot of their endeavors thus far and provides a glimpse into their upcoming senior thesis exhibitions beginning in February 2025.

During the semester, seminar participants develop their individual practices and do not set out with the objective of creating a cohesive group exhibition: nevertheless, as a result of spending endless hours in their studio in proximity, community forms and artists begin to influence one another. The group's general focus is wonderfully encapsulated in their show title, Stomping Grounds, which encompasses a range of references to familiar territories, haunts, havens, sanctuaries, homes, and hangouts.

Constructing such a place can happen both literally and figuratively. Locations span across geographic space and time, reaching back into childhood or even considering what is no longer. At times, the process is undertaken to understand the complexity of who we are, where we came from, and how our chosen cities and fellowship shape us. Sometimes, the reasoning is no less logical, but stems from an intuitive intellegence. Regardless, although their chosen mediums range and their styles vary, their attention to craft, concept, and message is consistently deliberate and thoughtful. These artists have shown you their remarkable places, and now they ask you to consider where your Stomping Ground is,

Please follow our talented emerging artists as they exhibit throughout the spring semester in the Ildiko Butler Gallery and the Susan Lipani Gallery. -- Stephan Apicella-Hitchcock, 2025
