For every story that is told, there is a lesson to be learned. I focused on Charles Perrault’s moral lessons found within his fairy tales by transforming these lessons into a visual exploration. Perrault’s morals are timeless in which any reader from any era can still take the moral lessons to heart. My project focuses on folk tradition by using silhouettes and complementary colors and shapes to reveal the pivotal moment and the moral lesson of each story. Some more well-known than others, the fairy tales portrayed in my senior thesis are: Sleeping Beauty, Blue Beard, Puss in Boots, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, The Fairies, Little Tom Thumb, and Ricky of the Tuft.
