It’s great to think nothing lasts forever.
My work glances at the relationship between corporality and physical mark-making, where the mortal elements of the body are reduced to flat, cool abstractions. Objects meant to contain life, or objects that call on the iconic, are particularly fascinating. I work to mis-register one’s usualconcepts, so that an individual’s apparently unique thoughts are subtly skewed, or overturned, by unassuming images. The collected marks create new, curious icons and look to the language of abstraction to question what abstraction can tell the viewer.
