My work is concerned with the gap between the personality that we believe we are projecting to the world and how we are perceived by those around us. This perceptual disconnect is explored visually through the application of the tenets of Hard Edge Abstraction; a style popularized in the 1960's by artists such as Ellsworth Kelly and Frank Stella whom I count as major influences. As a viewer it may be difficult to discern exactly what the action in any one painting may be and unanswered questions abound. Who the figures are and what their relations are to one another are left deliberately ambiguous. It's impossible to say if any reading of these figures is correct, just as we can never know for certain if our perceptions of those around us are accurate.
