Food Infrastructure and Public Space
Through a combination of ink and watercolor illustrations, informational maps, photos, and deconstructed wood pallets, this project explores a food desert - in an area laden with heavy traffic congestion, pollution, some of the highest asthma rates in the nation, malnutrition, and other health issues - in the Hunts Point residential community of the South Bronx, which exists as a result of being in the midst of one of the largest food distribution centers in the world. This exhibition invites the viewer to contemplate how the integration of more public spaces and community gardens could promote a healthy, food-secure, and productive environment for the residents of the Hunts Point community.
