With this series of photographs, I am attempting to bridge the gap between our everyday perceptions of the world around us and our perceptions of the world while in a heightened state of awareness. To achieve this, I explore ideas about the universe and matter through liquid light shows similar to those popular in the 1960s. Using a mixture of immiscible liquids, I create abstract scenes which vaguely resemble the cosmos, microscopic cells, oceans, or whatever you might see and juxtapose them against black-and-white images of everyday, suburban New York.
