I am intrigued by what we can learn about people without ever meeting them. What information do people freely offer to the public about themselves, and what do they choose to hide? By photographing the exteriors of homes—buildings and houses—I have come to think about portraits differently. I weave down streets and study the facades of homes. Is it pristinely painted? Is it colorful? Is it orderly? What could this mean, and who resides there? After I take the images, I align them and make each door the same size during editing to allow the viewer to see each door impartially and without distractions—the perfect alignment and sizing present homes and their potential storylines quietly.
