The power of vulnerability. Noticing others and being witnessed by people is a catalyst for the most profound and impactful connections. This breadth of work from my years at Fordham University focuses on this vulnerability in the world through my camera lens. Ultimately, providing a look into the dichotomy of the beauty and pain stemming from life.
Because I have a rare disease called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and am a survivor of sexual abuse, I have often suffered alienation from the world throughout some of the most challenging times of my life. Along with this came many consequences like chronic pain, illness, and unhealthy coping mechanisms; however, I utilized these painful experiences to create art which has helped me make sense of things and better recognize the beauty in life.
The hand of cards I have been dealt has given me power and depth of perspective regarding the world, lives, and interactions that many will never learn. I use photography and video techniques such as lighting and symbolism to speak for those who have been overlooked or oppressed. I intend to share my own experiences and that of others to present the vulnerability in this world. I feel a deep personal connection with my photography and video subjects, using my understanding and empathy to channel what I would call incredibly "truthful" works of art.
