The Wave is a sustainably built public pavilion located on the banks of the East River. This project was inspired by New York City’s natural environments, such as the waves from the East and Hudson Rivers, as well as the rolling hills that once made up the island of Manhattan. As these elements stand in contrast to the geometry of the urban landscape, this pavilion aims to blend and balance the organic and geometric aesthetics of New York City. My final vision for this pavilion is that it will be a community space used for entertainment, leisure, and public programs and events. The Wave’s landscape will include footpaths and green open spaces for congregating, and those who interact with the structure will be able to meditate on their surroundings within the cityscape.
