My work is about people I don’t know in New York. When I walk around the city or sit in subway trains, I can’t keep my eyes from straying towards people. I like watching them. It’s not that I like people, but something miraculous within them attracted me. Then I started to take my camera with me and take photos of people that I have never met and probably would never meet again. Among 8.623 million New Yorkers, I’m intrigued by these people. I can’t tell what interests me. It’s a mystery. I don’t know their lives. I don’t have to. But when you see these photos, you see their stories, or you make up stories for them.
