Through the use of acrylic paint and collage on canvas, I have created a body of work inspired by elements in nature, urban design, and human interaction. My organic approach to a highly constructed design correlates to things such as crystalline structures, which grow in an unrestricted environment yet take on organized surfaces, and urban maps that are full of plans yet adapt to the ever changing environment. I have also been greatly inspired by human reaction to color and form. My work uses numerous highly saturated pigments and countless numbers of geometric shapes that when combined, evoke a very unique reaction in each observer. When constructing these paintings, much of the “art” is in the actual creation process and my personal feeling when adding specific colors and how I form the shapes. I intend for the viewer to have a similar experience, allowing their minds to generate different images, create relationships, and give the paintings their own personal identity.
